Jazz WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) Feature Launched in Pakistan

The Most awaited calling feature for smartphones is now in the mid-way of lunch; jazz introduced WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) for better in-door, more precise, uninterrupted and stable voice call quality in Pakistan. Still, the feature is in the testing phase and has been launched for Samsung devices. Learn more about WiFi Calling.

We have contacted @Jazzpk, but they have yet to confirm the actual launch date of the feature.

Why do we need WiFi Calling? 

The WiFi Calling feature has many benefits, but most importantly, it allows you to make or receive calls even when you have poor or non-existent cellular network coverage. It can be beneficial if you live or work in an area with poor outdoor or indoor cellular service.

Another good thing about WiFi calling is that you don't need to do anything besides enabling the feature. All your calls and texts function as they would if you use the cellular network. And since the feature is baked right into the phone's dialer, no additional downloads are necessary, and all your contacts are available whether or not they are using WiFi calling.

More than that, Calls made over WiFi Calling will use your plan's minutes where applicable, even when you're overseas. You will be charged the pay-per-use domestic calling rate if you do not have any bundled voice minutes. International calls will follow the standard IDD rates.

We have tested the WiFi Calling feature while using the @Jazzpk network in Okara District; take a look at the screenshot below:

The screenshot confirmed that WiFi Calling is provisioned for Samsung Galaxy A715 Model. We will verify its availability while travelling abroad. Stay tuned for an update.

Android: How to Enable WiFi Calling 

It's easy to start using WiFi Calling. Do ensure your device is compatible before following the step-by-step guide below.

1. Update your Android/iPhone phone software/operating system to the latest version.
2. Make sure the service is activated by your carrier.
3. Tap on Settings > Connections, then tap on WiFi Calling (or you can type WiFi Calling in the setting search bar)
4. Slide ON WiFi Calling. ​
5. Select WiFi Preferred to make calls using WiFi Calling. 
6. Turn ON your WiFi.​
7. Connect to an available WiFi Network. ​

Android: Make & Receive Calls with WiFi Calling​

1. Ensure that WiFi is turned ON and WiFi Calling Symbol/Icon is active on the top notification bar. (Users must see the WiFi symbol in the upper left-hand corner of their phone's screen. The icon is usually next to your carrier's name or signal bar. Be sure to distinguish it from the inverted cone WiFi symbol; that cone icon usually just represents how strong your signal is.)
2. To make a call via WiFi Calling, simply dial a number.​
3. Incoming calls are automatically received through WiFi.​

IOS: How to Enable WiFi Calling

1. Go to Settings >Tap on General > Under the General menu and tap About.
2. Tap the Update button when prompted.
3. Go back to Settings >Tap on Phone >Select WiFi Calling.
4. Slide the WiFi Calling On This Phone to ON.​
5. Tap Enable when the Confirmation Message pops up.

IOS: Make & Receive Calls with WiFi Calling

1. Ensure that the WiFi is turned on.
2. Make sure you are connected to a WiFi access point.​
3. Go back to Home Screen, and you will see 'WiFi Calling Symbol' on the top left or right corner per your smartphone setting.​
4. To make a WiFi Calling, simply dial a number.​
5. Incoming calls are automatically received through WiFi.​

How Jazzpk WiFi Calling Feature Works Overseas

This question is yet to be answered by the @Jazzpk team on how the WiFi Calling feature will work if we use the @Jazzpk network while travelling abroad.

Calling rates Within Pakistan: 

To any Domestic number:         Your plan's rates, including unlimited calls, will apply.

To any International number:     IDD rates will apply.

Calling while outside Pakistan (Roaming):

To any Pakistani number:         Your plan's rates, including unlimited calls, will apply.

To any International number:     IDD rates will apply.

A valid and active Jazz SIM card is required. You cannot make a call if your line is barred, suspended or terminated. If you have a dual-SIM phone, please insert your Jazz SIM into Slot 1. All Jazz subscribers on postpaid and prepaid plans are eligible for WiFi Calling as long as your device's WiFi Calling & rate plan supports "voice call". It is unavailable for "data only" plans such as Postpaid MB.

Telenor Pakistan Extended VoLTE Support To Samsung & Vivo

Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) also called Voice Over 4g network offers the perfect Connectivity solution for the current 4G network’s shortcomings, the traditional calling technology in which the user lost the network connectivity if receives a phone call but thanks to VoLTE technology which replaced the old calling technology to listen to call over 4G network, which means you can use the data while having a phone call.

Telenor Pakistan is one of the leading players in the cellular market launched the VoLTE technology in Jan 2019 for OPPO & Realme smartphones and now the network has extended its VoLTE service to selected Samsung phones.

In the race of the fast-growing digital world, after OPPO & Realme Telenor Pakistan is expanding its VoLTE services to the maximum number of users from across the nation by involving all major mobile phone manufacturers in adopting the VoLTE technology.

Why do we need VoLTE?

The question may pop up here why do we require VoLTE Technology? The simple and easiest description of the importance of VoLTE can be understood from the following real-world scenario:

Suppose you are making online payments and the phone/system is in any critical phase e.g. generating O.T.P. and at the same time your phone rings up.

To receive a request from the cellular network for ringing, the phone has to switch from LTE/4G mode to lower bands like 3G/2G etc. During this switching, the internet on phone gets an interrupt. This interrupt may be unnoticeable for humans but the online payment methods mind this and your transactions may be unsuccessful.

Similarly in another scenario when you are downloading some files over the internet, this switching from LTE to 3G/2G may get an interrupt and affect the downloading.

If you have supported OPPO, Realme, Vivo or Samsung phone then you can activate the VoLTE to experience seamless network connectivity. Follow the steps below to activate the VoLTE. 

How to Activate VoLTE

Contact your mobile carrier to activate the 4G and VoLTE functions for your SIM card. If both the primary and secondary SIM card trays of a dual-SIM phone support 4G and VoLTE, 4G and VoLTE can be enabled for both SIM cards.

Activate VoLTE on Samsung

1. Go to the Settings app on your home screen or app drawer, or slide down from the top of your screen.

4. Toggle on VoLTE calls. That's it. :)

Activate VoLTE on Huawei

1. Go to  Settings > Mobile network > Mobile data. In the network settings area of SIM 1 or SIM 2, you can:
2. Enable 4G by turning on the Enable 4G switch. If the Enable 4G switch is not available, 4G will be enabled by default.
3. Enable VoLTE by turning on the VoLTE HD calls switch.

Activate VoLTE on Vivo

1. You can go to Settings.
2. Then (Dual cards and) Mobile network.
3. Click the Toggle button to enable VoLTE HD Call.

Activate VoLTE on Realme

1. Choose the Settings>SIM Card & Mobile> choose the desired SIM. 
2. To enable the VoLTE Calls, turn on the toggle button.

Malaysia: Travelling Restriction Eased for Long Term Pass Holders

Malaysia opened its Border for Vaccinated Travellers from Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Indonesia. but yet you have to spend 7 days in-home quarantine upon arrival and RT-PCR Test Covid-19 Negative Report is also required. Below we are going to take a look at the steps required before starting your journey.

The following categories are permitted entry into Malaysia without having approval from MyTravelPass Approval.

List of long-term Visit/Employment passes that have EXEMPTION from MTP approval: 

1. Diplomat (Exemption Order)/Dependent/Foreign Maid.
2. Expatriate Pass (Category I, II, III) / Dependent/Foreign Maid.
3. Resident Pass-Talent (RP-T) /Dependent/Foreign Maid.
4. Professional Visit Pass – Specialist.
5. Professional Visit Pass.
6. Permanent Resident (PR)/Spouse of PR/ Child of PR.
7. Long Term Pass (Husband/Wife/Child) to Citizens.
8. Senior Citizen Long Term Pass (Elderly)
9. Widow/Divorcee Pass to Citizens
10. Student Pass /Dependent/Companion
11. Malaysia My Second Home Pass (MM2H)/Dependents/Foreign Maid.
12. Resident Pass.
13. Temporary Working Visit Pass (PLKS)
14. Foreign Maid (PRA)

The holder of long term passes (PLKS, Spouse, Students Pass and MM2H Pass Holders) whose passes are expired or who do not fall under above mention categories are required to apply for entry application via the appropriate channel i.e MTP/Myentry or Travel Authorization. Pre-entry approval is also required for newly approved employment, professional resident and short term business passes. To apply for entry approval check out our Re-entry PLKS guide.

Apply For Social Visit Pass at the Nearest Malaysian High Commission or Embassy

If your Visit/Spouse/Employment Pass expired you have to submit your passport along with the MyTravelPass approval letter, required document and visa fee (In my case it's a 12,500 /PKR service fee of 2000 charged by the authorised agent). The High Commission/Embassy will stamp temporary 30 days social visit pass on your passport and you're good to go to plan your Journey.

In our case here is Social Pass (VDR) issued based on MyTravelPass.

If Embassy/High Commission called for an interview don't forget to take a Company Letter/Referral letter of the employer with you, they may ask for additional documents such as SSM, Employer National Identity Card etc.

Apply for home quarantine if you are fully vaccinated

Fully vaccinated travellers now have the option to quarantine from the comfort of their homes when they arrive in Malaysia but keep in mind if your country is still under the restricted list then you may not be able to avail this option. In my case, Pakistani Nationals having long term passes are allowed to apply for home quarantine.

Prepare the following documents & take note of the below instructions, also don't forget to visit the Ministry of Health Portal for the latest update:

Required Documents for Home Quarantine;

• Passport;
• Vaccination certificate (must be in English/Malay);
• MyTravelPass/myentry/travel authorization Approval (if applicable);
• Air Ticket;
• Accepted file formats:PNG,JPEG,PDF;
• Max file size 250 KB (your image to 2500 KB);
• Travellers from yellow fever endemic counties must be provided yellow fever vaccination certificates issued by Health Department or Government's approved entity;
• Submit home quarantine application prior to 4-10 days of departure.

Before Departure

Starting from 1 May Fully vaccinated travellers and children aged 12 and below are exempted from pre-departure and on arrival tests.

Partially or not vaccinated travellers must take an RT-PCR test 2 days before departure and a supervised RTK-Ag test within 24 hours of arrival. They will also have to quarantine for 5 days.

Covid-19 Insurance is no longer required for all travellers entering Malaysia.

How to Apply for Home Quarantine (You can skip this step if not applicable or you are exempt from quarantine)

1. Go to hso.moh.gov.my/outbreak-portal-hve/traveller/hvareg;
2. Fill up all required inputs with personal detail, flight, upload mandatory documents (I will recommend uploading all related documents even if it's optional, it will help you to increase the approval chances.);
3. Fill up the home quarantine address where you will stay during the quarantine period (if the hospital, enter the address accordingly;
4. It is important to declare the number of people resident in the house - and available rooms and toilets for quarantine;
5. Fill in the verification words (Captcha) accept the declaration and click submit;
6. You will receive the acknowledgement email and it will take 2-3 working days to get a response from the home quarantine application review team (it may take in some cases).

Install the Mysejahtera application to check-in at the airport otherwise, you may face may not be able to check-in & make sure that the application is up-to-date with the latest version available on the play store, apple store or Huawei Apply Gallery.

1. Scan the QR code at the check-in counter or Open the app goto Traveller>Travel For> Press the Start button & fill-up the form with your personal detail with Quarantine Address (same as per home quartine approval letter.);
2. Digital Traveller's Card will be issued to Fully Vaccinated;

Pakistan: How to Get It and Verify Your NADRA Vaccine Certificate?

Coronavirus is a family of viruses that can cause respiratory illness to a person’s body, It will eventually affect the human immunity system, the first strain was reported from China in December 2019, Which later spread all over the world & the most affected countries are the USA, India, Brazil, UK, Russia, Turkey & France according to data collected by Worldmeters.info.

Covid-19 Vaccines

To curb the COVID-19 World Health Organisation (WHO) has 7 approved vaccines, some of them are Pfizer and Moderna which are more effective vaccines to ending the COVID-19 pandemic. They further said that "Safe and effective vaccines are a game-changing tool: but for the foreseeable future, we must continue wearing masks, cleaning our hands, ensuring good ventilation indoors, physically distancing and avoiding crowds. Being vaccinated does not mean that we can throw caution to the wind and put ourselves and others at risk, particularly because research is still ongoing into how much vaccines protect not only against disease but also against infection and transmission."

Pfizer is administered in two doses, 21-28 days apart and it is only authorized for those above the age of 12. Apart from this Moderna is also administered in two doses, with a difference of 28 days, both vaccines have shown the same efficiency level. Most of the countries like the USA and UK are only granting permission to visitors who have been vaccinated with 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna.

Covid-19 vaccination in Pakistan

Currently, in Pakistan, there are four vaccines that are provided to citizens to boost the immunity system, top of the list of vaccination are Sinopharm, Sinovac, Moderna and Pfizer for overseas travellers. Sinopharm was developed by China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation that is also a part of some efficient vaccines being used in Pakistan. It's also administered in two doses with a difference of 3-4 weeks, eventually, it is not recommended for people under 18 years. Sinovac was also imported from china & developed by Sinovac Life Sciences Co., Ltd. & recommended for the age group above 18.

Registration for vaccination

Due to the widespread of covid-19 Govt. of Pakistan has made it mandatory for everyone to get vaccinated because in many considerable areas such Govt. Offices and Shopping Malls in Islamabad, Lahore & Karachi, the one who is not vaccinated may not be allowed to enter. It's important to register before getting the vaccination.

To Get Registered Follow The Steps Below:

1. Send your CNIC number to 1166 (or go to NIMS web portal to get registered  @https://.nims.nadra.gov.pk).
2. You will get the confirmation msg from 1166, there are high chances you will immediate vaccination in confirmation or you will second msg with 4 digit verification code
3. goto your nearest vaccination and show them 4 digit verification along with your original CNIC.

Note that you can get the vaccine from the vaccination centre set up by the Ministry of Health, Pakistan & it's free till the date we writing this post.

How To Get Vaccination Certificate

If you completed 1 or 2 doses of the vaccine, you are eligible to apply for a Digital Vaccination Certificate (also known as Covid-19 Vaccine Passport) by visiting the NIMS portal, Although you can also visit (Nadra Centers) to make payment & download the certificate from NIM portal.

Follow the steps below to get your COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate

1. Go to nims.nadra.gov.pk
2. Choose the Get Covid-19 Certificate (کوویڈ 19 ویکسینیشن سرٹیفکیٹ کا حصول)
3. Input your CNIC number, Date of Issuance (if you are not 18+ then select CRC from dropdown) & then enter the security code to prove that you're not a robot, press verify button (تصدیق کریں).

The system will fetch the data from the NADRA record and show the table of dose you had as shown below:

If the data shown above is correct, then press verify button(تصدیق کریں) and go-ahead to the next step.

1. Enter your CNIC number and name as per your CNIC.
2. If you have a plan to travel abroad don't forget to input your passport number.
3. Input your nationality and press verify button (تصدیق کریں).






4. The fee for the certificate is Rs 100 that can be paid online through a debit card or using wallet accounts apps Easypaisa, eSahulat, Alfalah & JazzCash.
5. Choose the credit card option to pay your certificate fee and press continue (select 2nd option if you wish to make payment from your wallet account apps).
6. Then, you have to enter your Credit/Debit Card detail & click Confirm & Pay button.
7. Accept the terms and conditions of the payment gateway & you will be redirected to the payment page.





8. You will be promoted to enter OTP received from your card issuer (in our case it's HBL Debit Card).
9. Input the OTP you have received and click the submit button to authorize the transaction.
10. The page will be redirected back to NIMS Portal and provide you with the download button to get your Digital Certificate.

Hurray..!! we did it :)

Note that if you wish to change the data of the Certificate i.e Name correction, Passport number or Nationality then you have to pay the fee of Rs 100 again to get the updated certificate.

How to Verify NADRA's Digital Vaccination Certificate

In August 2021, the NIMS launched the “Pak Covid-19 Vaccination Pass App” following complaints that Pakistan’s anti-vaxxers are turning to fake vaccine certificates.

You can download the PAK Covid-19 Vaccination Pass from PlayStore & App Store for Apple Devices to download Smart Vaccination Pass by entering your CNIC & Certificate number (find the certificate number at the top right corner of the JPG file downloaded from NIMS web portal) & later it can be used for verification purposes.

JAZZ Pakistan Successfully Launched VoLTE In The Country

In 2017 Jazz Successfully tested Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) with its Partners - Huawei & Nokia but later the environment was scrapped at the time,  In 2019 Telenor becomes the first Cellular Mobile Operator (CMO) to enable VoLTE across the network but supported by OPPO & Realme Manufactured Smartphones.

The Recent Mobile Network Benchmark Report Pakistan 2021 published by Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) shows that "currently, 4G/LTE networks deployed by Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) are not supporting VoLTE, CMOs need to improve call setup success rate (CSSR) & the average Call Setup Times (CST) are on a very good level for Circuit Switched Fall Back (CSFB) calls and can only be improved for pure VoLTE calls."

The report further says that "Zong is in the leading Position with overall good Voice Service but yet they are far away from launching VoLTE in the country. The report suggested to CMOs to further enhance the CSSR by deploying VoLTE networks across the country to ensure high-quality voice calls using advanced IMS core solutions. Through VoLTE, consumers will be able to make calls via 4G data network for better voice quality and users also be able to use voice and data at the same time."

last night I got the VoLTE Signal with Jazz 4G in Punjab(Okara) & I was feel secured that now I can avoid roaming charges by activating WiFi-Calling while travelling abroad with Jazz 4G VoLTE enabled SimCard.

 In my early post I have shared the re-composed digital copy of birth registration for Municipal Corporation Okara (MCO), today I would you to share another form which is used to register Marriage to get the Certificate & Update the marital status into the National Database Authority's (NADRA) system. 

The Digital Copy of the Marriage Registration Form (Form C) can be filled using Adobe Acrobat Reader on your Windows PC, Android Device or any MAC OS device the can be printed on Government Legal size paper to submit your application.  

Our aim to make all the Government of Pakistan's forms available online to download and print as you need them from Home, Office or from any Internet Cafe.

Pakistan: Birth Registration Form Municipal Corporation Okara

Under the PLGA 2013, The Tehsil Municipal Administration Okara has been converted into Municipal Corporation (MC), which consists of The Administrator, Vice Administrator, Chief Officer, 4 Municipal Officers and other officials of the Local Council Service and officials of the offices delegated to the MC. The Chief Officer is acting as coordinating and administrative officer in charge of the Municipal Officers.

In November 2019 the Punjab Government has raised the status of the Okara Municipal Committee to the Municipal Corporation (MC). The Local Council Services of MC allows the citizen to register the Birth, Death, Marriage, Divorce & issue the Computerized Certificate which then allows them to register with National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) to get National Identity Card. 

The reason to write this blog post is that the Municipal Corporation have a website but they don't allow it's a visitor to download the form. 

I decided to design & make all of them available online for the convenience of Residents of Okara, if something is missing don't forget to comment & let us know to add or upgrade.

HBL Mobile Banking Features Update to Advance Card Management

HBL becomes the country's first bank to introduce credit/debit card management features to its Mobile Banking App, the features include activation & deactivation of credit/Debit card, Manage limit enhancement, Pin change, pin generate as well as to activate and deactivate the card usage features on different platforms such as e-commerce, Pos transactions, ATM usages, online shopping, overseas usage and block your country for a specific country.

In this post, we will take look at all these new features to understand how we can get a better user experience by activating and deactivating these features without calling to customer service centre.

The update which came live on 30 march 2021 introduces major changes to its core design with the new look and feel as well as added dark mode option to just top left menu with toggle buttons, I'm gonna share a very brief overview of major credit/debit card transactions block & unblock features.

Search Instantly

Sometimes, it’s very hard to find exactly what you’re looking for. HBL Mobile Banking introduced a new way for you to search for information in your HBL Mobile App.

With this new search mode, called In Apps Search, you can quickly find content from installed apps. To access this feature, go to the "More" menu at the top right corner you will the search bar at the top of your mobile screen.

Lock Account Dashboard

Without an option to hide your account balance in the app, anyone behind you or in front of your phone can see confidential private information, easily. The only way to avoid this would be to use your hand to cover account balance and that’s just not enjoyable to do while trying to do other things on the app.

To manage transactions you have to go to the Manage Card > Manage Transactions & click the toggle button to enable or disable any type of transaction against your debit or credit card.

as you can see in the screenshot above we have E-commerce, POS Payments, ATM, Contactless Payments, Allow Countries (Overseas Usage) & you have the option to block a specific country where you wish your card should not be used. 

Enhanced Balance Statement

Growing digital banking transaction demands a Simple Clear & Transparent view of your recent transaction your have done throughout Internet banking feature. HBL does enhance the balance statement graphically & more specific activity report shown in the account statement both on HBL Mobile App as well as in desktop internet banking. let have look at the screenshot below:
